Studio 7 Workshops with Susan Benarcik
So frequently I’m reminded by media that we are distracted, we are we multi-tasking to our disadvantage, and our restless minds have no room to hear subtleties. So how do we increase our focus in a world filled with distractions? Some suggest meditation, diet, or yoga and meditation to increase mindfulness. What I suggest is … creativity.
Studio 7 offers small workshops in a stimulating environment. The focus at Studio 7 is on creativity, and mindfulness. Our workshops are designed to challenge and inspire you, the goal is to walk away from each workshop with a quieted mind, clear focus, and a more creative outlook on life.
Studio 7 Creativity Workshops are designed to…
• exercise your observation skills
• immerse uneasy minds and hands in the process of creation
• help you deal with unpredictability, because creative mediums and processes are all about unpredictability
• quiet the mind, much like meditation
• reconnect you with your intuition
• simplify the complicated
So frequently I’m reminded by media that • investigate and revealed rather than dictate or direct the creative process

Oodles of Doodles
Mondays February 2, 9, 16, 23
6:30- 8:30 P.M.
$85.00
Long dismissed as a waste of time, doodling is getting new respect. Recent research in neuroscience, psychology and design shows that doodling can help people stay focused, grasp new concepts and retain information. A blank page also can serve as an extended playing field for the brain, allowing people to revise and improve on creative thoughts and ideas.
Doodles are spontaneous marks that can take many forms, from abstract patterns or designs to images of objects, landscapes, people or faces. Some people doodle by retracing words or letters, but doodling doesn’t include note-taking.
All materials Provided for workshop, however materials from home are most welcome!
Workshops are limited to four people and will repeat throughout the year. All four spaces must fill to run the workshop, so invite friends and family who could benefit from a creative workshop. If interested if courses offered, please contact: design@susanbenarcik.com

Design|Build A Terrarium – A Two Day Workshop
Monday February 2nd & 9th
6:30- 8:30 P.M.
$85.00
The first terrarium was developed by the botanist Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward in 1842. Ward had interest in observing insect behaviour and accidentally left one of the jars unattended. A fern seed grew, germinated into a plant, and the terrarium was born. The trend quickly spread in the Victorian Era amongst the English. Instead of the terrarium, it was known as the Wardian Case.
•••••••
In the tradition of Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward, we will design and build terrariums with miniature plants, and glass enclosures… welcoming the errant, unexpected, dormant seed that often pops up in each well designed terrarium.
All plant material and containers are provided for first terrarium. If you choose to create a second one, you have the option to purchase additional plants and container or you can bring your own!
Workshops are limited to four people and will repeat throughout the year. All four spaces must fill to run the workshop, so invite friends and family who could benefit from a creative workshop. If interested if courses offered, please contact: design@susanbenarcik.com

6 P.M. – 8:30 P.M.
Two Evening Workshop $85.00
The word pysanka refers specifically to an egg decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs, and is not a generic term for any egg decorated using wax resist. All materials are provided to make exceptionally original Pysanka for your Easter celebration. Gather a group of friends and reserve your spaces today!

Intro to Watercolor – A Four Day Workshop
Dates TBD April
6:30- 8:30 P.M.
$85.00
Watercolor is one of the most challenging and unpredictable mediums of all. Watercolor painting will lead you on an exciting journey of discovery as you teeter back and forth between mastery and complete lack of control of your masterpiece. Some might wonder why anyone would bother using watercolor because of the way it bleeds and streaks and makes the paper buckle… oh but the results when you capture the perfect luminous petal, or glimmering raindrop in the light with a stroke of the brush… or absence of color. The delicacy of watercolor painting, unlike painting with heavier media requires a degree of gentleness and precision. Yes, unforgiving at times and the mistakes permanent, but if you start your painting with light colors and build to darker tones, you’ll be a pro. Workshop includes demonstrations and lots of 1:1 time.
Workshops are limited to four people and will repeat throughout the year. All four spaces must fill to run the workshop, so invite friends and family who could benefit from a creative workshop. If interested if courses offered, please contact: design@susanbenarcik.com
