Batik Workshop

Batik Workshops at Highlands Art Garage are awesome! Generally, none of the folks that attend have any experience with batik, and yet each of their designs turns out to be unique and compelling. Batik is a process by which melted wax is applied to cotton fabric to resist or retain several layers of color. It definitely requires some thought- and an open mind! Here are a few final pieces hanging out to dry after I removed the wax and excess dye. Kirsten took it a step further – she made a pillow from her batik designs!
