Think about sculpture as something other than a standing form. In this course installation art is demystified as you are introduced to a selection of artists that create experiences or installations. Some artists make large scale sculptural installations which work on a sensory level by “surrounding” the viewer rather than confronting them. These installations range from ephemeral to permanent, outdoor or indoor.
The goal of this 5 week course is to develop an idea for an art installation. There will be sketching and drawing involved, machete building, and a presentation of concept at the final meeting. This is a class where it’s safe to take risks. A background in sculpture but is helpful, but not necessary. Minimum enrollment needed to run each class, so please don’t wait to register!February 16th – March 16th
