Ephemera

Mermaid’s Whirl, a small sculpture made of shark egg sacs has found its way into a juried exhibition titled “Ephemera”. The curator, Pam Rogers stated “There are multitudes of ways an individual can perceive this transitory existence, making the concept of ephemerality a relative one”.  Just shipping this piece made put me on edge, like most of my work, Mermaid’s Whirl is high on the list of fragile and fleeting orchestrations, which often reference our ecosystem and many of its organisms existing in compromised conditions.  Along these same lines, Rogers says, “I was drawn to work that seemed to have risen from the artists’ true feelings of something being precious because it would soon no longer exist; art that embodied materials that spoke to a temporary life.”

Hope you will visit this exhibition on view April 1 – May 21
