Decoupage on Glass Plate Workshop

Decoupage Instructor circa 1970
In the 60’s and 70’s my Dad taught decoupage to many crafters in Wilmington, DE. Inevitably, I picked up his skills and perfected the art of decoupage on anything that would sit still long enough; purses, furniture, boxes, tables, trays, and plates.

Last week I offered a Decoupage on Glass Plate Workshop at Highlands Art Garage and it was really wonderful! Each attendee brought a variety of materials to include in their designs. We started by establishing a basic layout, and then adhered the most intricate pieces onto the back of the beautifully shaped glass plate. Layer by layer, we filled in areas of the design with decorative and found papers, both transparent and opaque. Each design was outstanding- completely original and unique to the maker and included elements such as delicate cut-outs, preserved ephemera like stamps, original artwork, and vintage letters, book page, maps and cards. I will be running another Decoupage on Glass Plate Workshop this spring due to popular demand.
